Content removal and takedown
In short. This page explains how we handle content in SiriON Community and Jobs that breaks our rules or the law: how to report it, how fast we act, how we deal with court and government orders and how to appeal. It follows the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, as amended ("IT Rules").
1. What you must not post
1.1 The content you must not host, display, upload, publish, share or transmit is listed in section 8 of our Terms of Use and in our Community Guidelines. It includes content that identifies a patient without consent.
2. How to report
2.1 In the app. Use Report in the menu next to a post, comment, message, event, listing or member. If three established members report the same item, it is hidden until a moderator reviews it. For an intimate image of a person, choose "An intimate image of someone" so moderators see it first.
2.2 By email. Write to our Grievance Officer at grievance@sirionhealth.com. Include a link to or description of the content, why you think it breaks our rules or the law, and your contact details. If you are acting for someone else, say so.
2.3 Anyone can report, including people who are not members.
3. How fast we act
| Complaint | What we do |
|---|---|
| Any complaint | We acknowledge it within 24 hours and resolve it within 7 days |
| A request to remove content covered by rule 3(1)(b) of the IT Rules, other than complaints about rights in content, intellectual property or other laws | We act as fast as possible and resolve it within 36 hours |
| Content that shows a person's private area, shows them in full or partial nudity or in a sexual act, or impersonates them, including morphed or artificially created images | We remove or disable access within 2 hours of the complaint |
| A report in the app about Community or Jobs content | Our moderators review it within 24 hours, and we tell you when we have |
4. Court and government orders
4.1 When we receive an order from a court of competent jurisdiction, or a reasoned written intimation from an authorised officer of the appropriate government or its agency under section 79(3)(b) of the Information Technology Act, 2000, we remove or disable access to the content within 3 hours, as the IT Rules require.
4.2 When an authorised government agency makes a written order for information or assistance for verification of identity or for preventing, detecting, investigating or prosecuting offences or cyber security incidents, we respond within 72 hours.
4.3 We may tell the member concerned unless the order or the law prevents it.
5. What we keep after removal
5.1 When we remove content or disable access to it, we keep the content and related records for 180 days for investigation, or longer if a court or an authorised agency requires it.
6. Copyright and trademark complaints
6.1 If you believe content infringes your copyright or trademark, write to grievance@sirionhealth.com with: your name and contact details, the work or mark, where it is used in SiriON, proof that you own it or act for the owner and a statement that the information is accurate. We review it and remove infringing content.
7. Counter-notice and appeal
7.1 If your content was removed and you think the decision was wrong, write to grievance@sirionhealth.com within 30 days. Explain why, and include the content details. A person who did not make the first decision will review it and reply within 7 days. If we agree, we restore the content.
7.2 If you are not satisfied with our decision, you may appeal to the Grievance Appellate Committee set up by the Government of India under the IT Rules, within 30 days of our decision.
8. Telling users about our rules
8.1 We remind members of our rules, our Privacy Policy and our Terms at least once every three months, including that we can remove content and suspend or end access for breaches, that breaking the law can lead to penalties and that we report offences when the law requires it.
